HEJ!

Norseland, the Norse Recreation Society, is an organization devoted to researching, learning, and interpreting the history and lifestyle of the Icelandic Society (800 to 1100 AD).

The group gathers quarterly, closest to the equinoxes and solstices, in the tradition of the Icelandic Althyng. At each event we partake in traditional Norse activities and customs including armored combat, metal work, woodcraft, practicing throw weapons and archery skills, gaming, singing and storytelling, and feasting, while dressed in time-appropriate clothing.

Most members are located in the Northeast United States and all of our events are held there. We generally camp in Viking A-frame tents, or in inclement weather we hold our events in halls.

RECENT EVENTS
St Fall Thyng 2007 we honored the life of Mama Feldmann with a bonfire and burning ship filled with items commemorating her life. A former Citizen, Analies, was also remembered, with items sent in a carved wooden box

The Holmgang tournament was won by Olaf, making him the new Norseland Champion, and non-citizen Konrad was the champion of the day. We also celebrated the marriage of Erlandr Nordenskald to Zach of House de Londres, who's household gifted Norseland with 15 gallons of mead.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Winter Thyng is scheduled for January, when Citizens will elect new officers for 2008.
